Participate in Relief Society Postcard

8 February 2011 5 Comments

(NOTE: This was designed in Feb 2011 but can be reused this month in 2012 to let the sisters know you miss them in Relief Society!)

Being a part of Relief Society has certainly helped me change for the better! I will be honest, I was one of “those” young single sisters who didn’t think she would ever “fit” into Relief Society. Trust me ladies, everyone “fits” into Relief Society. “Fitting in,” to me means, making a difference for good, means going out of my comfort zone to help someone else feel comforted. The declaration and focus of Relief Society extends much further than our RS meetings on Sundays. It starts in our homes, comes with us to work and school and if we let it, it can be infused into our lives. Keep in mind that, our Relief Society meetings are very important, because it is the time when we can all meet to recharge our batteries, learn more about Jesus Christ and His gospel, develop new skills, and where we can learn from others just like us who are trying to do the same. We can all “fit” into Relief Society first, by accepting the assignment to be a Visiting Teacher. Visiting Teaching to me helps me feel “needed” and how can I be needed? by serving. I have to be the friend they never knew they needed. Sometimes I feel like I don’t “need” more friends (I really don’t), but Visiting Teaching isn’t about me, it’s about those sisters needing Christ. I may not need more friends, but the sisters I Visit Teach need me, because the Lord needs me to be there for them, to be their friend, but more importantly to be their friend in the gospel. Serving them the way Christ would serve them if he were here. One of my goals this year is to be a better friend to the sisters I Visit Teach, the one they never knew they needed.

I wanted to design something that would help us “invite” more sisters to Relief Society Meetings & Activities. Something that would feel warm and inviting and show that it’s not scary. We’re all trying to become better and learn more of Christ, like Mary and Martha and we have the same Eternal goals, to become exalted and return to live in the presence of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ with our families and friends. There are also plenty of chairs shown in the postcard, so that not only could the sister we’re inviting feel like there is “room” for her but possibly room for her friends & family too. I used a silhouette of some comfy chairs from Lettering Delights instead of hard ones because, to help portray to the wonderful feeling we get when we’re in Relief Society.

Download this month’s Participate in Relief Society 4×6 Card for Visiting Teachers by clicking either the link to the left or the image links below. There are 3, English, Spanish & Portuguese!

Instructions:

  1. Click on image & download it. (it’s a jpg)
  2. Print it 4×6 (you might need to adjust your printer settings because if printed at 100% it might be too big), in color on thick cardstock.
  3. Recommended: take/upload the image (jpg file) to your local print shop and have them print it 4×6 on regular photo paper like you would regular pictures. Cosco, Walmart, Target… whatever you want!
  4. Optional Recommendation: Add a little note to the back and let your sisters know you’d love to see them for Relief Society on Sunday or even for an activity coming up.

    Hi-
First I’d like to thank you for your website!! I love it!
I have two questions- my husband and I currently serve in a Spanish speaking branch in Colorado Springs, CO. I was wondering if I could translate some of your postcards/bookmarks so they would be available for Spanish speakers? Secondly, I have some quad leather scripture covers for sale. They are made in Colombia by a member there are beautiful and high quality. Would you be able to advise me as to how to advertise them?
    Thank you so much!
