So this month our Telisa from Sugar Tot Designs has designed a fun Orange, Black on White printable with the following quote from this month’s Visiting Teaching Message:

“Today we live in a world where we “wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). However, we need not fear. When we know who we are and who God is and we have made covenants with Him, we—like these mothers of warriors—will have great influence for good.”

I’m really glad she didn’t opt for a “flesh and blood” theme for this printable LOL, instead she made it look really classy and of course something we can share with the sisters we Visit Teach, because it’s family friendly. Thanks Telisa!

Instructions:
1. Download the 4×6 JPG or the 4-up PDF file.
2. Print in Color at your favorite photo printing store in 4×6. (i.e. costco, walmart, etc..) or If you choose to download the 4-up PDF you can print it on white cardstock.
3. Cut them into 1/4ths if you printed the 4-up.
4. Write a message on the back if desired.
5. Gift it to the sisters you Visit Teach.

Download the August 2011 Visiting Teaching Postcard:
Download this month’s Visiting Teaching Postcard by Sugar Tot Designs and give them to the sisters you Visiting Teach, by clicking either the previous text link or the link image below.

Instructions:
1. Download JPG file.
2. Print in Color on cardstock.
3. Cut into fourths, each card should now be slightly smaller than 4.25″x5.5″ with a white border or smaller if you want to trim right against the purple pattern.
4. Sign the postcard and give it to the sisters when you Visit Teach. Invite your sisters to go to Relief Society with you and sit next to them.

What does it mean to exercise faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? Elder David A. Bednar, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, from a satellite broadcast address to Church Educational System educators given on February 3, 2006 titled “Seek Learning by Faith“, highlights three basic elements of faith:

1. faith as the assurance of things hoped for that are true = Facing the future.
2. faith as the evidence of things not seen = Looking to the past, learning from experience.
3. faith as the principle of action in all intelligent beings = Initiating action in the present.

“Faith in Christ is tied to, and results in, hope in Christ for our redemption and exaltation. And assurance and hope make it possible for us to [act and] walk to the edge of the light and take a few steps into the darkness—expecting and trusting the light to move and illuminate the way. The combination of assurance and hope initiates action in the present.”

“Faith as the evidence of things not seen looks to the past and confirms our trust in God and our confidence in the truthfulness of things not seen. We [acted and] stepped into the darkness with assurance and hope, and we received evidence and confirmation as the light in fact moved and provided the light we needed. The witness we obtained after the trial of our faith (Ether 12:6) is evidence that enlarges and strengthens our assurance.”

“Assurance, action, and evidence influence each other in an ongoing process. As we again turn and face forward toward an uncertain future, assurance leads to action and produces evidence, which further increases assurance. Our confidence waxes stronger, line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little.”

If we remember that the Lord is with us whithersoever we go, (Joshua 1:9) and “the Lord is able to do all things if we exercise faith in him,” (1 Ne. 7:12) then we should have courage and not be afraid or dismayed to do those things He asks of us because together  we (the Lord + me) can do anything! No matter where we are in life, no matter our trials, Christ makes up the difference and with Him by our side we can accomplish our most righteous goals and the deepest desires of our hearts.

I’m excited to learn from inspired leaders called to speak for the Lord, during this year’s April General Conference. I’m going to set goals and do the things, which I know will bring me REAL peace and joy in the future. I know I am human and still make mistakes but I know these things which I have shared are true. I will have courage to trust in the Lord, continue to try, try and try again, and know that together we can do anything. In the name of our Savior and Exemplar, even Jesus Christ, Amen.

Here’s a booklet I designed to help each of us make General Conference more meaningful. It includes traditions from a lot of different members and families which we can implement before, during and after General Conference. I hope you enjoy it!

Instructions:

1. Click image above or this link to download the PDF.
2. Print pages double sided. (there are 4 full size pages which totals to 8 half pages) Print page 1 & 8 on the back of 2 & 7, then print 3 & 6 on the back of 4 & 5. Once those are printed you’ll see how to line them up. make sure they all face the correct orientation, so they don’t end up upside down.
3. Fold in half & saddle stitch (add to staples in the middle of the booklet to keep it together)

Hand them out to the sisters you Visit Teach or families you Home Teach. Enjoy!

Once of the traditions we have started is: Going to the Temple a week or 2 before General Conference. This is already helping us!

There are a few sections which I’ll explain for fun:

• The obvious…speaker, calling, session and date sections for in the heading.
• Quotes = for word for word quotes that I am actually able to write down quick enough.
• Notes = for just random thoughts and notes which aren’t actual quotes.
• Share Inspiration = sometimes I think that I could share a message with a friend or family member or especially a sister I Visit Teach but I usually forget what that was after the fact. So This little section will help me remember when I review who I thought I needed to share a message or inspiration with.
• Prophet and Apostles = just lists the names of the First Presidency and the 12 Apostles, so that we can get used to spelling their names correctly.
• Scriptures = jot down any scripture references.
• Goals = Sometimes inspiration leads to setting new goals or changing some you already have. So this is where you can take note of those goals, because we all know we need to write them down.
• Topic Cloud = Sometimes, one speaker can cover a lot of topics in their message. For example, pride, humility and prayer could be spoken about in the same talk. Just add as many topics as you’d like in the topic section so that you can remember what stood out to you when listening to the talk.

Instructions:

3. 3 hole punch the prints or copies
4. Insert them into a 3 ring binder and voila!

General Authorities Chart: This contained a two-page chart showing the General Authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (most of them anyways, I don’t think they would ever be able to fit all of them on 2 sheets of paper.) Here it is for you to download either all on 1 page PDF printed 8.5×14 or a 2 page PDF document which you can print on 2 sheets of 8.5×11 letter size paper.

Conference Story Index: Then we were given a list of Stories. A list of selected stories or experiences from general conference addresses for use in personal study, family home evening, and other teaching. What a great way to quickly find the stories you remember, in order to share them with the sisters you Visit Teach. My hubby loves stories and that’s what helps him remember the messages of each talk, so he was really excited to find this. The number refers to the first page of the talk in the Ensign magazine. Here’s the JPG you can download and then print at home.

RS Meeting Highlights & Story Index: Lastly here is a document which I created to help me with my Relief Society Newsletter this month. This file includes “Highlights” from our General Relief Society Meeting as well as the Story Index mentioned above. I think having this will help us to see what our Relief Society leaders are wanting us to focus on. I also included the Story Index because I think that is such a nifty little chart and has already helped me to identify a talk I wanted to share simply by looking up the story. Just download the PDF and print it!  Remember, you can share any message you feel would help your sisters this month, so if you don’t want to share any messages from the General Relief Society Meeting, you don’t have to use this document, there are many options.

November 2010 – Pre-made & Handmade Visiting Teaching & Home Teaching Gifts & Kits
These General Conference themed premade gifts are fantastic because they can be used for Home Teaching and Visiting Teaching this month. Since our hubbies are always helping us out, why not help them. I know my hubby is always relying on the gifts and goodies I have ready for him to take with him when he goes Home Teaching. The sisters who designed these gifts and kits chose different messages to focus their kits on, so pick the one you feel will help them the most.

I chose to create an enhancer for this message from the General Relief Society Meeting, because, I personally needed to hear President Monson’s message titled Charity Never Faileth. I never thought of myself as being judgmental, but after listening to him and re-reading his message, I believe I have some work to do. My Favorite part, of course, is this one:

““Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” Or, to paraphrase, why beholdest thou what you think is dirty laundry at your neighbor’s house but considerest not the soiled window in your own house?”

You can now see why I chose to use a window cleaner (which is a digital graphic from LetteringDelights.com which I altered). This will help remind me that I’m not looking through a perfect set of eyes, and that I should focus more on improving myself instead of trying to judge others. It also reminds me to stop talking and just do it, just take time to clean my own windows instead of staring out of them. [Which BTW I should anyways, because my windows are dirty.] I love the sweet husband in the story, who took initiative and cleaned the window for his dear wife. I know my hubby would have cleaned our windows too. I’m grateful to be married to a great Priesthood holder, who creatively helps me to become a better person, instead of judging me like I have just judged someone else.

It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to re-read, listen or watch General Conference again, to keep us focused. This is the message I needed to hear, but my sisters may need a different one. I may end up sharing a different message, but of course all messages are to help us in our lives, especially those who come from the prophet of God.

President Monson’s whole story (but not the entire talk) is quoted in this Window Cleaner Card printable PDF. It’s double-sided, one side in color and one in black and white. Should line up really well when printed double-sided.

Since there were 2 specific addresses (by Elder Claudio R. M. Costa & Elder Kevin R. Duncan) in General Conference who mentioned the importance of listening to our “living” prophet, I made sure to include a quote by President Thomas S. Monson from “Blessings of the Temple.”

Quote: “The temple provides purpose for our lives. It brings peace to our souls.”

Text on the card: “Fall in love with… Temple Service” – Since it’s FALL, I used the super darling LetteringDelight’s “Delight-Fall” collection: digital paper and digital graphic set.

3. Recommended: take/upload the image (jpg file) to your local print shop and have them print it 4×6 on regular photo paper like you would regular pictures. Cosco, Walmart, Target… whatever you want!

Last month, I ordered a couple of these amazing premade kits, and it saved me a lot of time and was soooo darling and thoughtful. The sisters obviously loved them! You just have to see these kits in person, because the images don’t do them any justice.

I chose to edit a cute seed packed from LetteringDelights.com because I believe our generation of little one’s can be likened to seeds, rising from the ground into tall trees or beautiful flowers and in turn make the rest of the world a better place for the 2nd coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

I used the following scripture & quotes on the packet.

Pre-Made Visiting Teaching Gifts

With school starting, I bet most of you have a bit more time on your hands to print and cut the fun Visiting Teaching printables I provide you with, and I bet some of you are even starting to design their own fun handouts and things. Which if you do please share them with us on our facebook page. If there are the occasional sisters out there who just would rather focus their efforts on visiting teaching instead of cutting and pasting, like I do, here are some super amazing suggestions!

My husband and I now live in Utah (near the Mt. Timpanogos Temple) and we love going to the Temple on a regular basis, it helps to remind us the covenants we’ve made to each other and to The Lord. It also helps to remind us of what we have to do daily to be worthy to have a Temple Recommend and to make sure we renew it before it expires. I’m sure most of you are like us and try to visit the local temple when you visit other places while on Vacation and that’s always the best part of our trip. Gotta keep your Temple Recommend handy! I’ve been able to go to the Laie Hawaii Temple, the Orlando Florida Temple and obviously the other ones here in Utah. I know that a lot of sisters still live days away from any Temple and aren’t able to go as often as you’d like to, but can still benefit from living worthily to hold a current Temple Recommend and know that you are blessed for it.

Floridians have since been blessed with the Orlando Florida Temple and I highly recommend a visit if you’re planning a trip to Disney World.  It brought tears to my eyes and was so happy to heard the Ft. Lauderdale Florida Temple announced in October 2009 General Conference. I can’t wait to take a special Family trip to that one.

I thought it be cute to have a Car (made out of paper) with our sister’s Family in it. Then I also, a reflection of the Temple on the windshield to show that we are in the parking lot & to show that we should always strive to go to the Temple. This is because of my personal experience of having taken a “road trip” to the Atlanta Georgia Temple when I was 5 to be sealed to my family. I also know that most people don’t have the blessing of living near a Temple and probably visit Temples while on Vacation or plan special Temple trips with family or a church group. This Box Car also reminds those of us who do live near Temples, to go to the Temple more often. Even if your kids can’t actually enter the Temple it’s great to show them the importance of Temple Worship and how much you value it, by going their often.

Here’s the quotes which I “graffiti‘d” or included on the Family Car:

How can I claim the blessings of the temple?

The Cool Nissan Murano Paper Car! My dear friend has one so it reminds me of her and decided it was perfect for what I needed. Got the original template is from a Japanese site called Niffty Art66 here. It’s sporty enough on the outside for those without children and spacious enough for those with children (unless you have 12 kids), and it’s not a Van (I like vans, just don’t think everyone does). But if you don’t like this SUV there are tons of other ones to choose from here or here, except that they are a little different because I re-did the car template to make it easier for us to make multiples and obviously has cool quotes. I also found other cool Paper Cars here, but they weren’t “cartoony” enough to match the cute family peoples. WARNING: Remember, the real Nissan Murano doesn’t have a seat in the back, but this is a cartoon, so it’s just for fun. And I don’t really think that you need to go out and get a new car, it’s just a fun thing to make.

Mix & Match for your sister’s Family! I used LetteringDelights.com’s Mom, Dad, Kids, Baby Boy, Baby Girl & Class Graphics for the members of the family in the car. You can cut out each window as needed. You can show her and her hubby in the car without any kids if she doesn’t have any, you can choose an older couple if they are empty nesters, you can choose to include the whole family, just her alone, or if your sister is single, you can use the Bride & Groom to help remind her that it’s her goal.

Download this month’s Family Temple Trip Car for Visiting Teachers & even Home Teachers by clicking either the link or image below.

Instructions:

1. Print in color on white paper or cardstock. ( I used plain paper for the sample but it looks a little flimsy so maybe cardstock or just between cardstock and regular paper would be better.)
2. Cut out car with sharp scissors on the outside of all of the black lines. Be careful not to cut off a tab/flap.
3. Mountain fold all flaps. Valley fold at the base of the front windshield.
4. Add glue to tabs as you go.
5. Start gluing each tab in place. Glue the base last.
6. Optional: Mix-n-match families! Cut out custom family graphics and glue  them over the windows.

October 2010 – Temple Themed! Pre-made & Handmade Visiting Teaching Gifts & Kits

Pre-Made Visiting Teaching Gifts

If you’re like me and stay up way too late making things for the sisters you Visit Teach (like my Banana Bread incident), I feel for you and know that it can be taxing, but am sure you’re being blessed for it anyways. Do you need a break and want to still have something handmade for her? Let other sisters do the crafty gluing and cutting and order one of these gifts below and take a well deserved, well needed nap. Instead of acting on our Spiritual promptings we’ll be falling asleep to the Spirit’s whisperings and not react as quickly as needed. LOL I know I have fallen asleep at the wrong time.

So as you all know this month’s message is about Strengthening Families and Homes, and this topic helps to remind me of all of the things I NEED to be doing to keep my family together forever. I’m not sure if you all knew this, but my parents divorced when I was 16 and although I have come to love the “new additions,” I don’t wish it upon anybody. Especially if you can “make-it-work.” Some of the ways I believe families “make-it-work” everyday, are outlined in this message; prayer, scripture study & Family Home Evenings. Those are just some of the basics, and yet some of the hardest ones to follow. Now, that I have a family of my own I can see how it must have been hard for my parents to have FHE, family prayer and scripture study. But we can’t give up yet, not so soon, we can’t give up our forever family because we wanted a little bit more sleep, or wanted to hang out with some friends, a little league game, watch a TV show, or the many other things that can distract me from my ultimate goal.

Anyway, I designed this Pop-up Kitchen Card because I bet we all feel like we live in the kitchen. LOL at least I do and I don’t even make things from scratch or have dinner ready every day. But it is perfect for mailing, and I know how much we all love that, so there is no excuse for me not to at least make a contact. My friend has her FHE board in the Kitchen (great reminder area!) so I added one in the card. I love to listen to the scriptures while I’m washing the dishes so I added the scriptures on the counter. And then of course I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cookies so that’s my immediate “reward” for doing what I’m supposed to be doing, but we know that in the end I’ll be rewarded by getting to keep my family forever. BTW I know it looks more like a baker’s kitchen than one who cooks meals, but these graphics from Lettering Delights were just too cute to pass up.

Quote I used on the Rug is from Barbara Thompson, second counselor in the Relief Society general presidency.

“Scriptures, family home evening, and family prayer will strengthen families. We need to take every opportunity to strengthen families and support one another to stay on the right path.” 1

Note: The kitchen also has a little title that says “sweet nothings,” it’s not meant to say that we’re not doing anything, but I was more trying to say that from small and simple things we can help our families stay together. Less stressful but more fun that way. Enjoy!

Step-by-Step Pics:

Instructions: (this is actually pretty fast! probably 5 min.)

1. Save the file to your desktop.
2. Print @ home, a friends house, upload it to your favorite Office Printing place to print.
3. Print in Color on white Cardstock (I did use regular paper for the sample in the pictures because I didn’t want to pay a lot for my color copies and it did seem to be okay, but think that cardstock would be less flimsy.)
4. Trim off all the white around the edges of the kitchen. (You should have 2 each being 3.75″ x 8″
5. Fold in half. (mountain fold)
6. Make 2 folds 2″ from the half mark in the opposite direction of the 1st fold. (valley fold)
7. Cut a piece of cardstock 11″x4.25″ to be the outside of the card and fold in half.
8. OPTIONAL: Add eyelets or brads or anything else you want to add your special touch to it, or just lease it as-is.
9. Adhere only the “wall” side and the”floor w/ rug” side to the inside of the folded card. Providing at least 0.25″ – 0.35″ of a mat or margin on all sides.
10. Fold card and unfold it to see it POP!
11. As for the outside of the card, you can either add a stamp, add a sticker and ribbon, type something out or just leave it blank. Honestly I totally forgot about the outside of the card but I am sure you ladies can make it look cute without my help.
12. Insert it into the envelope and mail it. OR use it as a prop while Visiting Teaching.
