I used to be afraid of sharing the caring, just report if I visited or not. But I have learned that our Visiting Teaching Supervisors, Relief Society Presidents and Bishops want to know you’re caring for your sisters. They want the details! This is not an assignment of secret charity, save those for other peeps. This is our assignment from the Lord, where we can do a lot and brag about all of the service we’ve done to our VT supervisors because they need the info and they want to praise us for caring about our dear sisters. Of course still be humble and always be willing to improve. They want to know HOW sisters you visit are feeling of the Saviors love. So let’s not be afraid and go all out! The Savior loves us and our Supervisors have been called to share His love for us as we report our caring through Visiting Teaching.

I went to my favorite place to download some cute digital products LetteringDelights.com. I used a couple of different digital products. You take the Cupcake for the Cupcakes and DB Hello Cupcake DoodleBat Font for the black and white version, LD Cursive Font for the font, Cup Cake Celebration for the frame and Dress Up Paper Dolls for the gal’s head shot silhouette.

Title: My Super Sweet Supervisor (Font used LD Cursive Font)
To fill in: supervisor’s name, address, phone & cell phone, option if you receive texts, then put your email address. Picture can be glued on top after printing or added using a photo editing software.
Then says: “Reporting our Visiting Teaching is a piece of cake!”

SPECIAL NOTE: If you’re not a Visiting Teaching Supervisor yet, you won’t need to download this free printable. This is for all of the Visiting Teaching Supervisors, Visiting Teaching Coordinators or Relief Society Presidencies who want to help the sisters of their ward know who to call to report their Visiting Teaching. Print it and fill it out with the Supervisors Information and pass out to the sisters in her district maybe even with a cupcake! If you know how to use photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Elements then you can add text before you print it and even add your picture in the circle provided. Otherwise there is just a blonde silhouette of a gal in it’s place.

Supervisors, I created 2 different designs for you! 1 in color which you can print at your favorite photo place and a black and white one which you can print from home on cardstock and cut out and pass out with a cupcake!

Color: 4×6 (click to enlarge and save file. Sized for photo printing on matte photo paper. No cutting necessary!)

Black & White: 3-up – 4×6 (8.5×11 size to print at home or your local copy shop on cardstock)

Instructions:
1. Download the 4×6 JPG file or the PDF file. Just click to enlarge and then right click to download.
2. [Optional] You can open the JPG or PDF and edit them using Photoshop if you want to add text or pictures to them before printing. If you are not familiar with that, you can do a search online and learn, sorry this site is to help you with Visiting Teaching only. You can also just print them and then write on them with a fine tip sharpie and pass them out. You can then glue your pic on them too. Works just as good!
3. Upload the JPG to your favorite online photo printing store or print the PDF at home with black ink on cardstock.
4. Cut them out on the dotted lines if you’re printing the Black and White version, each card should be 4×6 or if you downloaded the individual JPG just print it and it’s ready to go.
5. Write your info, glue a pic of yourself if desired and give to the sisters in your Visiting Teaching District! and I’ve already suggested it but seriously how cute to pass this out with a cupcake! Maybe I’m suggesting it because I want one right now.

So as you all know this month’s message is about Strengthening Families and Homes, and this topic helps to remind me of all of the things I NEED to be doing to keep my family together forever. I’m not sure if you all knew this, but my parents divorced when I was 16 and although I have come to love the “new additions,” I don’t wish it upon anybody. Especially if you can “make-it-work.” Some of the ways I believe families “make-it-work” everyday, are outlined in this message; prayer, scripture study & Family Home Evenings. Those are just some of the basics, and yet some of the hardest ones to follow. Now, that I have a family of my own I can see how it must have been hard for my parents to have FHE, family prayer and scripture study. But we can’t give up yet, not so soon, we can’t give up our forever family because we wanted a little bit more sleep, or wanted to hang out with some friends, a little league game, watch a TV show, or the many other things that can distract me from my ultimate goal.

Anyway, I designed this Pop-up Kitchen Card because I bet we all feel like we live in the kitchen. LOL at least I do and I don’t even make things from scratch or have dinner ready every day. But it is perfect for mailing, and I know how much we all love that, so there is no excuse for me not to at least make a contact. My friend has her FHE board in the Kitchen (great reminder area!) so I added one in the card. I love to listen to the scriptures while I’m washing the dishes so I added the scriptures on the counter. And then of course I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cookies so that’s my immediate “reward” for doing what I’m supposed to be doing, but we know that in the end I’ll be rewarded by getting to keep my family forever. BTW I know it looks more like a baker’s kitchen than one who cooks meals, but these graphics from Lettering Delights were just too cute to pass up.

Quote I used on the Rug is from Barbara Thompson, second counselor in the Relief Society general presidency.

“Scriptures, family home evening, and family prayer will strengthen families. We need to take every opportunity to strengthen families and support one another to stay on the right path.” 1

But I have commanded you to bring up your children in light and truth.

Note: The kitchen also has a little title that says “sweet nothings,” it’s not meant to say that we’re not doing anything, but I was more trying to say that from small and simple things we can help our families stay together. Less stressful but more fun that way. Enjoy!

Step-by-Step Pics:

Instructions: (this is actually pretty fast! probably 5 min.)

1. Save the file to your desktop.
2. Print @ home, a friends house, upload it to your favorite Office Printing place to print.
3. Print in Color on white Cardstock (I did use regular paper for the sample in the pictures because I didn’t want to pay a lot for my color copies and it did seem to be okay, but think that cardstock would be less flimsy.)
4. Trim off all the white around the edges of the kitchen. (You should have 2 each being 3.75″ x 8″
5. Fold in half. (mountain fold)
6. Make 2 folds 2″ from the half mark in the opposite direction of the 1st fold. (valley fold)
7. Cut a piece of cardstock 11″x4.25″ to be the outside of the card and fold in half.
8. OPTIONAL: Add eyelets or brads or anything else you want to add your special touch to it, or just lease it as-is.
9. Adhere only the “wall” side and the”floor w/ rug” side to the inside of the folded card. Providing at least 0.25″ – 0.35″ of a mat or margin on all sides.
10. Fold card and unfold it to see it POP!
11. As for the outside of the card, you can either add a stamp, add a sticker and ribbon, type something out or just leave it blank. Honestly I totally forgot about the outside of the card but I am sure you ladies can make it look cute without my help.
12. Insert it into the envelope and mail it. OR use it as a prop while Visiting Teaching.

If you’d like a translated version please just comment on this post with the exact translation of the whole quote as well as the prophet’s title and conference talk title in the language you are requesting. Thanks! This makes my life a lot easier and I can have the translated version up quicker.

Instructions:
1. Print in color on white paper.
2. Fold in half (at the 5.5 inches)
3. Then fold in half again (at the 4.25 inches)
4. Using scissors or a corner rounder, round the top right and the bottom right corners.
5. You should have a card which looks like a passport.
Optional: add some glue/adhesive to help the paper stay in place and so it’s a little stronger.

Instructions: (better and more detailed instructions included in the file)

1. Print in color on white cardstock. Write in the “to & from” spaces.
2. Cut along the crop lines.
3. Fold along the fold lines. (i didn’t actually follow this step because after I cut it the fold lines weren’t there so I just folded where I thought it would be cute.)
4. Fill small plastic bag with candy or treats and fold over the top. Place bag in the center of the folded tent and use the top flap to fold it over the bag, pinch it and staple shut. (I just used tape because I totally forgot to get treats and so I need to redo mine, LOL I just had to take a quick pic of it for you guys so you could see what it looked like.)
5. Add embellishments to personalize it if desired.

The quote I used was from Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

As President Boyd K. Packer, … President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, has stated, ‘Inspiration comes more as a feeling than as a sound.’”

Feelings huh? I never realized that the feelings I get and the thoughts I get for making decisions in my life could be considered personal revelation. I always just thought it to be my better self if the decision was a good thing. But it’s true! If you’re doing the essentials, “studying the scriptures, fasting, praying, and building faith” we’re going to be able to receive that personal revelation. We’ll be “in-tune” and we’ll recognize it in our lives too. That got me thinking, sometimes the feelings I get to do or not to do something can range anywhere from being happy or sad about it or even confused and even nauseating. As I was thinking about all of them and searching for inspiration, I came across a lot of fun and silly facial expressions and faces which depict different feelings. In this digital age we are typing and texting and see a lot of fun little emoticons like this one> and it’s fun to use those in our texts, emails, web pages, blogs, etc… to help people understand how we feel about something. So, it hit me, possibly a little bit of me being a crazy technology person like my dear hubby and a little bit of personal revelation (after all this is a church thing) and so this card came to be. I do love how the General Authorities of The Church can explain things so that even I can understand them. So that I can recognize different principles and how they apply to me in my life at that moment. (I especially love it when GAs talk about social media… too cute!)

Song Disclaimer: I didn’t purposefully pick the title, it just kind of came out while designing it, but decided to just keep it, cause it sounded right. However, I do like the song “I got a feeling” from Black Eyed Peas, but they take the Lord’s name in vain a few times very loudly (not muffled at all) so until I can edit the song myself, I can’t listen to it. Why do they have to do that, ruin a perfectly good song? As my dear friend and neighbor Cory put it so perfectly, “It’s a commandment, you don’t even have to be LDS to know that it’s a sin” and applies to everyone (as do all other commandments they just don’t know them yet). I’m not trying to tell you what to listen to (cause I’d rather not share my sins on the web, cause S already knows them and we don’t need them to get any worse), you get to decide, just ask yourself, how does it make you feel?

Today’s Treat is a 4×6 Lucky & Blessed Postcard. Goes with March 2010‘s message of course, because we’re blessed when we read them, and it was obviously inspired by St. Patrick’s Day. Have you ever heard people say “I’m so lucky” and then either publicly corrected, or silently corrected, them to help them realize it’s called a blessing? I have to correct myself sometimes when I say, “I am so lucky” and realize that actually I’m being blessed. Well, that had me thinking a lot and I’m blessed with a lot, but I also think I’m lucky in a lot of ways. Lucky that i didn’t die in a car accident when I was 18, no, that was for sure a blessing. Didn’t even get a scratch on me. Or lucky to have the gospel in my life, no, that is a huge blessing. Blessed that I didn’t bite my nails, maybe but one can consider that lucky because now I’ll be able to paint them and make my hands look nice, but blessed that I even have hands and nails to paint. Get it?

Think about this: When you say you’re “blessed” instead of “lucky” you’re actually giving credit where credit is due. You are recognizing your blessings from the Lord and therefore publicly thanking Him for it, when we say it out loud. I think that society and time has actually blended those 2 words/meanings together, to keep us from acknowledging Him or trying to make it “politically correct.” How many times do you say you’re “lucky” for something when you really meant “blessed” but don’t really want to say blessed because it sounds more “churchy?” I’ll admit I have sometimes, or maybe because I didn’t want someone else to think they are less blessed. In reality we’re all blessed, but in different ways and for different reasons. Just stop and think about it next time.

Anyways…that’s why I came up with this Visiting Teaching Postcard, cause I thought that we are lucky and blessed to have the scriptures but for different reasons.

Postcard reads: “Lucky to have the scriptures handy! & Blessed when we read and study them daily!”

I also included a quote found in the Ensign, May 2005 titled “The Tender Mercies of the Lord” by Elder David A. Bednar. he talks about how even the smallest things are blessings from the Lord. I loved it and so I thought it would be great to put it on a postcard because we are blessed even more when we read and study the scriptures every day. I testify that this is true!

I’ve really been struggling lately on what to design for this month’s message without copying the fun Visiting Teaching Kits and gifts from: Pioneer Party & Copy, BowPeep Creations and Sugar Tot Designs. But have no fear, I finally did and it turned out cute, I think. It’s a door knob hanger in the shape of a shamrock with a stem cause of St. Patrick’s Day. Great for hanging on standard door knobs! I used a few digital products from Lettering Delights. They have the cutest designs. I’m sure if the sisters you Visit Teach are anything like me, they may have kids who just barge into the room anyways, but at least our door knobs will look cute and reminds us to read more. Right!

Since March 2010 is motivating and encouraging us to read the scriptures more and suggests we become sister scriptorians, I also added the phrase, “Just doin’ a bit o’ readin.’” Sounds kind of Irish too!

Instructions:
1. Print on thick white cardstock.
2. Cut out around the shamrock and stem. Outside of the black.
3. Cut out circle in center in order to fit around a door knob.

Optional: Mount on another piece of cardstock to make it thicker. Laminate it to make it last longer.

BTW My printer still doesn’t have any color ink in it, so I haven’t printed it at my local print shop yet and that’s why I couldn’t provide any “live” pictures. But if you make some, print it and post it on our Facebook Page! Become a fan! upload a pic.

In this month’s Visiting Teaching message Julie B Beck said, “I asked several bishops what self-reliance skills the sisters in their wards needed most, and they said budgeting. Women need to understand the implications of buying on credit and not living within a budget. The second skill bishops listed was cooking.” I chose to focus on the 2nd skill for this printable! Here’s the quote from this month’s Visiting Teaching Message which I included on the calendar, to remind us why we’re doing this, everyday.

Download this week’s Menu Calendar/Planner & Menu Tiles for Visiting Teachers by clicking either the links to the left or images below. The menu tiles have really basic and generic meal names. So you can either use them and make your meals the way you usually like them or just make your own tiles. I just figured I’d give you a head start. Some good ones include: Leftovers, chicken & rice, indian meal, latin meal, pizza, BBQ, raviolis, etc…

Picture Instructions: (click on the pictures to enlarge them)

Instructions:

1. Print Calendar in color on white cardstock.
2. Print Menu Tiles in Black and White on white cardstock.
3. Optional: Trim all 4 sides of white edges off the calendar.
4. Laminate the calendar.
5. Add a 4.5″x6.5″ piece of clear plastic or possibly cut an album page which can fit a 4×6 picture.
6. Adhere your plastic strip onto the “4×6 recipe here” area so that your 4×6 recipes can slide in and out easily from the slot. (Change recipe cards often when you are doing each recipe.) There are tiles which include the 6 recipes which I provided here.)
7. Add Velcro dots or little Magnetic strips to the calendar in the middle of the “weekly brown squares.” I used the hard velcro dots on the calendar.
8. Trim the Menu Tiles on the gray dotted lines so you end up with little menu squares.
9. Add the soft velcro dots to the backs of the little menu tile squares.
10. Add Magnet Strips to the back of the Calendar. (I added 2, one towards the top part and one towards the bottom.)
11. Ready to gift or keep for yourself. It’s actually easier to make more than 1 at a time just so you can get it done all at once.
12. Start using your calendar ASAP!
